Julia Munuera Garcia
PhD researcher
[email protected]
Julia is PhD researcher at University College Groningen, Department of Social Science and the Faculty of Spatial Sciences.
Julia's PhD aims at exploring how accessibility, encounters and mobilities influence people with disabilities’ experiences in the city. Hence, contributing to the broader global efforts to create cities that are sustainable, inclusive and accessible to everyone. Due to the number of Europeans with a disability (about 27% of the EU population) and the velocity with which the population is aging, accessibility and inclusivity are a pressing sustainability issue.
Julia uses community-based and arts-based participatory research to create knowledge with co-researchers, who are residents at ‘s Heeren Loo (see below).

As a postdoctoral researcher, she assembles, analyses and curates existing data from previous arts-based research projects.
